Two women came before the most influential king of Israel. They had more reasons to keep away from the throne than their femaleness in a male-dominated society. They were also prostitutes, and therefore the most scorned, belittled, and oppressed of all in the Jewish community. But the force of their condemnation deemed powerless before the force inside them. They were also mothers with love for a child burning more furiously than lava. By drawing powerful analogies, Pastor Kevin Brown calls all mothers to recognize and accept their authority on this Mother’s Day.
